The sun hasn't yet rised and it's still a little bit cold when I open the door into the past.
I see a wide hall and I can smell the dust of the decades. The door falls into it's lock producing a loud bang. Its like stepping into another world, a world of forgotten people, forgotten memories and lost places.
I inhale the silence and look around. Nothing can be heard except some waterdrops dripping from a broken pipe. Slowly, I start walking around, pieces of glass are cracking under my shoes. More than 45.000 square meters and hundreds of rooms, left by the people as if they where in a hurry.
What will I find in all this rooms and corridors? Sometimes even the newspapers where still lying on the tables.
All clocks stopped at around 1 o'clock, as if a giant had ripped of all the power lines at once. I am fascinated by the morbid charme of rust, broken glass and and the plants who already reconquer the place.
This is it I hear myself saying, this is where we want to take the fotos for the album...
It took a lot of patience to get the permission to set our feet on this ground, but finally we made it. And I knew from the very beginning that our efforts would pay off.
Well, well, well...
...the clock is ticking!
At the moment we are working with pressure on our album. The drums will be recorded in March and the first photo shootings for the cover artwork will take place in April and May.
Beside that Mark and I wrote a new song. A really unique number with influence from both, Jazz and Rock. I’m sure You’ll like it!
For those of you who couldn’t make it to the Jazz Keller in Krefeld, be prepared for next year. It was a really nice atmosphere there. Mark was playing his ass off and the Stramps where really loud. I felt like beamed into a Beat Club Session from 1971.
I had to struggle with my voice, because of Mark’s 18th birthday the day before, which ended up in a couple of pints too much, not to mention those inconceivable strong cigars the boys where smoking, ruining my voice. Hey Mark, I am older than you! I am supposed to smoke strong cigars.
Well, despite that and two female police officers who couldn’t believe that it was possible to put 3 guitars, a 4x12 cabinet, a floorboard, microphone stands and a 140W Stramp head into a 30 year old Porsche everything went very well.
I heard them thinking "That shouldn’t be allowed shouldn’t it! Those damned bastards with their guitars." I invited them to a ride, but they declined. Well, there was no space left in the Porsche anyway, but I think I saw at least one of them in the audience.
Yes, it is done! Finally!
It has cost about 300 litres of Kilkenny, 6 bottles of Glen Grant, two smashed monitores and 4 keypads which looked like a funny game of Scrabble after brute force has had it's impact on them.
Fortunately, from now on, I'm back to business with writing songs, using the same amount of Kilkenny and Glen Grant, but with less coleteral damage.
The Wrecking Company had a very turbulent year as you all know. First we had to replace the bass player and then we kicked out the drummer. Well, shit happens, but it turned out to be a fortune, because with Mark and Daniel the band has been pushed into a whole new universe.
And this was also the trigger to say, "we need a new homepage".
So stroll around and read all the news about us and our next ventures. With time the homepage will be filled with more and more informations, especially about our new Album, which will be out next year.
So, stay tuned and check the site frequently.
I see you in person at our next gig on 22.2.2011 in Conny's come In.
